Remember When the Internet Was "Good?"

When the World Wide Web was founded in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau, it was a link between scientists across the globe. It was nothing if not pure. But look at it now. Scandals, secret illegal trades, scams, and a Dark Web Silk Road. The Internet is now the most controversial topic in arguably all of modern history. Of course, there are many great things about the Internet. For example, it allowed the Arab Spring movements to overthrow many dictators in the Middle East. But the "cons" really outnumber the "pros." The information on the internet is rarely accurate, yet we've come to rely on it. The world has begun to use the phrase, "Youtube has everything," more than any of Plato or Aristotle's teachings. Tim Berners-Lee once said, "Free the Internet!" In doing so he gave the ability to use the Internet in any way to any and every person.
