Some people prefer to follow; others to lead. Leadership is considered to be one of the most important and essential traits of mankind. But what is it? Is it an award, a burden, or a mix? Is it inherited, earned, or developed? I believe that leadership is a trait that develops over time, experience, or need, since all leaders inspire others, are willing to learn, or are necessary.
Leaders inspire others. Many leaders start from very little basis, and they turn that into a movement. Take David Packard and Bill Hewlett: they started HP from 538 dollars and a used drill, which turned into the beginning of Silicone Valley, and the outright authority in inking and printing.
Leaders are willing to learn. All people make mistakes, and quality leaders learn from them. Try this on for size: Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, was voted out of his own company because of his mistakes! However, he learned from these mistakes; he was soon welcomed back into the company with open arms.
Leaders come from necessity. Take a look at Salva Dut: he was a teenage boy who was forced out of his village and away from his family. He leads a group of Syrian refugees after he is forced into the position following the death of the group’s previous leader: his uncle. He was not ready for this change nor was he willing, but he led the refugees to safety and freedom.
Leadership forms from time, experience, or need, since all leaders inspire others, are willing to learn, or are necessary. Some people follow; some people stay in the shadows of others; but I lead others toward a future that I can shape. Leaders inspire in every opportunity; they help others by guiding others through tough times It is easier to let others lead: there is less work to do. But there needs to be leaders in this world. Either way, go make a difference in the world!
